#1 Audition Tip for Booking Broadway

If I could give y’all just one piece of advice for booking Broadway, it’s this… Film yourself!

This is my #1 tip that has helped our students at The Broadway Studio level up their auditions more than almost anything else.

Back when I was coming up, we didn’t have iPhones. We had flip phones… glorified walky talkies for those of you who are confused! I'm really not trying to date myself here 😅 but trust me, what I would have given to be carrying a recording studio in my pocket. If you want to level up, watching yourself on camera might just be the tool you’ve been missing.

🎥 Turn on your camera

Try this: film your entire audition like it’s the real thing!

  • Walking in

  • Introducing yourself

  • Delivering your piece

Then ask yourself:

  • How’s your energy?

  • Can we hear you clearly?

  • Is your story clear?

  • Where is your focus?

  • Where are you directing the audience’s focus?

  • How’s your musicality? Tone? Pitch?

  • Is there purpose behind your movements?

Filming gives you an honest mirror. Not to judge, but to grow.

🎟️ Takeaway: Your iPhone Is Your Greatest Tool

There has never been a better time to train and grow as artists. Filming yourself opens up a world of opportunity for growth, and it's FREE!
